Project Summary

#TeamSuperFunny is the team behind The Sean Ward Show. They are famous for their fan parody series about comics, superheroes, and comic con culture. They currently have 4.5 million subscribers on YouTube. A team made up of me and my colleagues, who comprise of designers and content strategists, were assigned to create a digital strategy that would help The Sean Ward Show with their growth as a brand and strengthen their digital presence online.

The Problem

Once we had our first meeting with #TeamSuperFunny, they revealed to us they needed help to develop a digital strategy that would allow The Sean Ward Show to showcase its brand individuality. They want to transform their hashtag into a fan community on social media. Despite their popularity, many of their viewers don’t recognize each member as who they are.

The team’s presence online and on social media is not used to their full potential, especially when it comes to promoting new content, capitalizing on current media trends, and audience engagement.

The Solution

Our solution began with tackling their content strategy, social media strategy, and redesigning the #TeamSuperFunny website. A successful approach would allow #TeamSuperFunny to gain a grasp on their image, more familiarity between the members and their audience. The improvement of their website will draw more attention to them and their merchandise, upcoming events, photo gallery, and blog.

The Process

Current State Analysis

Initially, we researched their current digital properties, which includes how well statically they do on their YouTube channel, The Sean Ward Show’s Instagram, and The Sean Ward Show’s Facebook. We did this to gain a greater understanding of where the team stands. We needed to understand as much as we could about their users. About who they are, where they are from, what they expect, and their behaviours. Our research eventually led to creating a competitor analysis, personas, and user journey.

Website Redesign & Proposals

Once we realized everything that we needed to know about #TeamSuperFunny’s audience and where as a brand they stood, we proceeded onto the technical side of things. We produced wireframes, a homepage layout, a site map, and a prototype. We created proposals for #TeamSuperFunny about the content strategy, channel expansion, and digital strategy.

Presentation

For our presentation, we assembled all deliverables to #TeamSuperFunny. We were able to point out the pain points and strengths of The Sean Ward Show as a whole and produce our final presentation proposal to the team.

My Role in the Project

My tasks were to assist in the creation of the user personas, the channel expansion proposal, social media management guidelines, social media strategy, user study, and user journey.

The Results

Once we reached our final deadline in early December of 2019, we delivered our digital strategy presentation deck as well as a document that recapitulates all of the work everyone on the team had done. Now The Sean Ward Show can apply the plans to improve their enterprise.
